Fly Fishing Trip and Lodge Details:

The internationally renowned Lake Strobel, (also known as Jurassic Lake), is a 65 square kilometres crystal clear waters lake, with extraordinary biological characteristics and conditions that allow amazing growth of trout, famous worldwide as probably the best wild rainbow trout fishery in the world. Estancia Laguna Verde, located on the south coast of this incredible place, offers fishermen the chance to experience wild Patagonia at its best, surrounded by beautiful untouched landscapes and unparalleled flora and fauna, and the opportunity to battle against huge and strong fish, enjoying also the comfort of its exclusive lodge, the one and only in all the Strobel area.

The Lodge main building is a typical “Estancia house” with 3 (three) double bedrooms with comfortable “en suite” bathrooms, provided with hot water all day, each with two single beds, accommodating only six anglers per week. There is a spacious living room looking at Laguna Verde, where wine and cocktails are served, as well as a 42´ LCD TV set provided with satellite connection and a DVD player for entertainment, and a fly tying desk, to enjoy when not fishing.

The Lodge offers the visitor satellite and IP telephone and free unlimited wireless Internet access, with a computer available at the lodge, as well as electricity 24 hours a day (220 volt), which is provided by windmill generators and fuel generators as back up.

Estancia Laguna Verde offers excellent cuisine preparing typical Argentinean food, like great “asados” (barbeques), famous Patagonian lamb, and the best international dishes, all served with great wines from Mendoza, and other parts of Argentina.

This incredible place offers not only extraordinary fishing at Lake Strobel, but also fantastic action at the amazing Barrancoso River, the only tributary to the big lake, with more than 8 km running inside the Estancia, as well as the challenging and great fishing at 15 smaller lakes located inside the ranch.

It’s important to point out that unlike fishing for sea run trout at Tierra del Fuego or Gallegos river where seasons are very short (usually starting in January and lasting until the end of March), Jurassic Lake (Lake Strobel), Barrancoso River and the 15 smaller lakes inside the Estancia, the fishing maintains an excellent level throughout the season, which is from November until mid April.

Rates:

$5,200 per person, double, 7 nights (normally, Saturday to Saturday), 6 full days of fishing. Effective through April 2013.

Accommodations and capacity:

This is a full service lodge that will comfortably accommodate six guests. Located in the main building is the dining room where breakfast and dinner is served. Here guests meet for social hour after fishing. During dinner you will enjoy the quality of international cuisine accompanied with the best available Argentinean wines.

Rates include transportation to and from the Calafate airport, lodging, gourmet meals, and transfers to and from rivers and lakes, and laundry service.

Not included:

International air to Calafate. Fishing licenses, gratuities, telephone calls not using Internet, items of a personal nature, etc.

Location:

Located in the Agrentina province of Santa Cruz, Estancia Laguna Verde is 115 km from Gobernador Gregores City and about 300 km from El Calafate City. Estancia Laguna Verde lies about 900 metres (2,900 feet) above sea level.

How to get there:

To Buenos Aires (EZE) and then transfer to the domestic airport, Aeroparque (AEP) and on to Calafate (FTE).
